TIMES-NEWS OPEN BOWLING DRESS CODE

The Times-News Open is the premier amateur scratch bowling tournament conducted in this area and it is our hope and desire to keep it as such. Accordingly, the following policies have been adopted for those individuals who will be bowling in either the semi-final qualifying round (if applicable) and the final  rounds.

  1. Jeans are not permitted. Blue jeans, black jeans, etc.
  2. Shorts, cutoffs, and sweat pants are not permitted.
  3. T-shirts and the like are not permitted. Shirts should either have a collar or be of  the classy, collar-less variety.
  4. Hats, headbands, and other headgear is not permitted.
  5. Advertising and/or having your name appear on your clothing is permitted.

If a competitor shows up for a round for which the dress code is applicable the committee will rule on the situation based on the  facts and circumstances of the situation. Potential resolutions will be one of the following :

  • The bowler will be replaced by the highest ranking bowler that did not qualify for the applicable round.
  • The bowler may be subjected to a 100 pin penalty for the round. If the penalty is imposed for a round of the finals it will not apply to any  specific game or match but will be subtracted from the bowlers over all score.
  • In rare circumstances the bowler may be permitted to participate without penalty.

If you have any questions, please contact the tournament chairman for clarification.
